The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has decided to independently undertake the cluster redevelopment of Pratiksha Nagar in Sion locality in Mumbai.
Rather than utilising private developers through the traditional construction and development agency model, MHADA will execute the project for the first time via the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) framework, hiring a contractor for fixed-fee construction. Spanning approx. 25 hectares, the sprawling layout comprises over 200 buildings.
The self-redevelopment approach enables the housing authority to maximise public housing assets and streamline urban renewal efforts across the city's central region.
